Artist Mel Crawford, born in Canada, worked in Canadian comic books during the early years of World War II, went to work for Disney, prolific in various styles of art. He did the pen-and-ink interpretations of the folksong, "Froggie Went A-Courtin' in 1956 for Dell.
Crawford (see here with two other examples of his art styles) now does paintings of New England. His website is http://melcrawford.com/

25 MAD covers by Norman Mingo
Norman Mingo (1896-1980) was an artist hired in 1956 to give the covers of MAD a polish enjoyed by slick magazines of the era. MAD has had several excellent cover artists, but I have a fondness for Mingo, who began a new career at MAD when he was 60 years old.
